Weather station

The new `Vaisala' weather station was installed together with a slightly large lightning pole. An improved communication system was installed which connects now both the old and new weather station over an optical fibre Internet link. This eliminates potential lightning damage to the TCS. In the near future we plan to also included the values from the new weather station in our data base. This will allow for a direct calibration of the new system compared to the old, making a changeover relatively simple and allow for one system to serve as a direct back-up for the other.

Recently there have been some problems with the communication from the old weather station to the TCS and the purchase of the new weather station seems to have been very timely.
