Having FIES now available permanently actually raise some practically
issues. In general, there are two main issues:
- the data acquisition system needs to be available at all
times. This actually implies that both the system for FIES and
StanCam are running as the latter is needed for the target
acquisition. These systems need their own terminals to operate the
data acquisition systems. Independent if FIES is used or not, there
will be an instrument mounted at Cassegrain with its own data
acquisition system. A general set-up for this will be defined and
implemented
- as FIES should be at all times available for ToO and/or
monitoring programs this requires proper instructions for the night
time observers. As it is impractical and inefficient having to
instruct all observers, the system will be automated as much as
possible and the instructions on the web will be improved where
necessary. This is also an issue that should be discussed with the
PIs of those programs requesting ToO or monitoring observations with
FIES
